17 Mar European Tourism Day in Brussels – an opportunity to learn about the European tourism
Important information: in line with the measures of the European Commission regarding Covid-19, the event has been postponed. The new date will be communicated.
On 5 May 2020 Brussels will host the next edition of the European Tourism Day. The event is an opportunity to learn more about the European tourism, meet representatives of the sector and learn about the sustainable development goals. This year the event will concentrate on the theme “European tourism – leading to a greener future” and expects the presence of roughly 400 participants. Among them there will be representatives of the European Institutions, public authorities, experts from travel and tourism organizations, universities, etc.
Moreover, the European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN) will be awarded during the event. The European Destinations of Excellence is an initiative of the European Commission, which promotes the sustainable tourism through the selection of tourism destinations, chosen in the European countries every year.
Tourism and travel industry is a relevant sector of the European economy, which yearly contributes 356 billion EUR to the European economy.
